About the Teacher

I graduated from Southwest Missouri State University(now Missouri State University) with a Bachelor's of Science in Education with an Emphasis in Mathematics.  I have taught high school math for nineteen years with the last nine being at Marionville. I teach 8th Grade Algebra at the Middle School and I teach Algebra I, Geometry, Applied Statistics and College Algebra at the High School.  I also co-sponsor both Math Club and Prom.

I love mathematics.  There is something satisfying about working out a problem to it's solution.  I don't think that many of my students will ever have to work with exponents or solve a system of equations, but I am sure that they will be more successful in life if they know how to think logically, if they can use prior knowledge to solve new challenges, if they know how to persevere until completion, if they are organized and if they can follow instructions to create new things.  Mathematics reinforces all of these skills.

I believe it is vital for students to receive as much personalized instruction as possible in order to master the concepts taught in math classes. To ensure success I spend a lot of class time checking my student's work and going over any mistakes they make. I teach concepts several different ways to accommodate different learning styles and I incorporate technology in my classroom to reinforce concepts in a way that is fun and engaging.
